WHY SOUTHERN BAPTIST?
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Historically, Baptists have considered themselves to be “non-creedal.” This means there is no single statement or document which perfectly captures all the doctrinal issues that are important to us. Baptists are known to say, “We have no creed but the Bible,” a statement that pretty well captures the essence of sound Baptist theology.
Over the years, Baptists have adopted a number of doctrinal statements expressing their generally-held views on a variety of important subjects. The first of these, written in 1925, was titled, “The Baptist Faith and Message.” It has undergone some revision over the years; the most current version is the 2000 edition. This document reflects the doctrinal views of Immanuel Baptist Church. Click here to view the “Baptist Faith and Message” located on the Southern Baptist Convention website.
